The Department of Education, Science and Training has support information for students going to uni either in Australia or overseas. Check out schemes including HECS, PELS and OLDPS.
Youth
allowance is available for students studying full-time or those looking
for work full-time.
Indigenous secondary or tertiary students may be eligible for ABSTUDY
allowances.

Emergency loans may be available through your university or student union. These loans are usually only provided for essential living expenses (eg rent, household bills, medical expenses) or study expenses (eg textbooks and equipment, compulsory excursions). Get university contact details from the List of Australian Universities.
Your bank, building society or credit union may also offer student loans. Talk to them and don't forget to check out the competition - you might get a better deal somewhere else!
