If you have a problem with a faulty product or unsatisfactory service, knowing your rights can mean the difference between getting what you paid for and being ripped off. These sites can help you find out what you're entitled to.

Buying Stuff on the Money Stuff site has info on refunds, credit notes and consumer scams to name a few.

Consumer.gov.au is the official site of the Council for Consumer Affairs. Select ‘Consumer Rights’ for frequently asked questions and recalled products.

Do you want to know about your consumer rights? Do you need more information about how businesses should act when selling you goods and services? Visit the website of the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission to learn how to stand up for your rights in the market place. The ACCC promotes competition and fair trading, and is the national watchdog for unfair business practices.

Explore SCAMwatch to find out more about the scams that might target you and your friends! SCAMwatch is a website run by the ACCC to help you recognise, report and protect yourself from scams. You can also sign up to receive free SCAMwatch email alerts so that you can be warned about scams hitting the SCAMwatch Radar!

The Australian Consumers Association produces Choice magazine, and is available to advise you on your purchases. See what they've got to say about your rights as a consumer.

FIDO is a great site with heaps of suggestions to prevent getting ripped off on the internet, insurance, scams, schemes and much more.

Understand your Privacy Rights and how to lodge a complaint if you feel your privacy has been compromised. The Attorney-General’s Department also has information on the Privacy Act and how it relates to you, check out the fact sheets.

Complaintline provides links for dispute resolution and advice to consumers on lodging complaints. You should always try to resolve your complaints with the service provider first.
